This house design is very exciting and entertaining. It’s definitely not a minimalist. Groovy and wavy is the first thing caught in my mind when I look Coscia Day’s work of the Skywave House. Covering 2,250 square feet and 40 feet wide suburban lot in Venice, California, this house is one modern wavy house with a very strong distinctive look of a sculptural roof looking like a wave. The roof suspended in time where it floats over a 1st floor garden space surrounded by glass.
I love the simplicity of this house, including the white standing seam roof/wall for solar gain diffusion, motorized for wind and rain sensors, windows that face west, a chunk of great skylights to catch ocean breezes and 29 feet entry to vent rising hot air. Coscia Day’s work is such awesome sample and very much inspiring where you won’t be bothered by cubic like house design.
