This wood clad house is designed by architect Dan Hisel. The Manio/ Downing Residence is a wood clad home for a private which is often described as a highly crafted boxes in the woods. It truly looks like a high crafted boxes and the simplicity of this contemporary courtyard house plan is definitely striking towards the woody surrounding located just at the outskirts of Boston. I’d rather called it a forest home than a box house. So the forest house here can fit up to five people, offering a day to day living and entertaining where parents get their own private office space here.
The two timber homes are connected and form an “L” letter shape. This way it allows the front courtyard to nestle between the two volumes. You can find four bedrooms, a large living and dining area and casual living spaces inside the wooden house which is complimenting the spacious and airy floor plan. Traditional themes are used here and there for the interiors with a fine contemporary touch. Wood floors are keeping the house warm while also accompanying the floor-to-ceiling windows where the forest is lurking outside. Contact architect Dan Hisel.
